It's a little disturbing that Todd Long took the lead in the straw poll. Why would anyone want to vote for another lawyer to join the other 75% of lawyers in the Senate and the House? If we want to change Washington for the better then vote for a citizen patriot...Dan Fanelli. As a Naval officer and Pilot he is perfect for the job. Patricia Sullivan is ok, but why run against someone like Dan, He's what the people are asking for.

Matt Falconer’s Fiction vs. the Facts

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk_0TSqfei8

FALCONER FICTION: Falconer attacks Teresa Jacobs for being a Democrat before she got into politics, and only switched because of her district.

FACT: Teresa Jacobs registered Republican 11 years ago. Before that, Teresa was registered no party affiliation, not Democrat. Oh, and Teresa cared enough to vote, unlike Falconer. (source: Orange County Supervisor of Elections office)

FALCONER FICTION: You attack Teresa by trying to label her a lobbyist for the Department of Transportation.

FACT: Teresa has never has been a lobbyist for DOT or anyone. In fact, one email inquiry to the DOT and they will tell you that she was expressly prohibited from meeting with any elected officials at any level of government while employed by DOT. If you can’t meet with them, you sure can’t lobby them. (source: FL DOT)

FALCONER FICTION: You accuse Teresa of raising taxes, increasing the size of government and having the gall to call herself a Republican.

FACT1: In 2006, when property tax revenue were raised by 20%, Teresa was the only commissioner who spoke out against the increase.

FACT2: Teresa was also the only commissioner who voted against the proposed property tax rate and the budget!

FACT3: In 2006, Teresa was the only commissioner to oppose a debt financing plan (Legacy Plan) that would have saddled taxpayers with a $530 million debt! (source: Orange County BOCC minutes)

FALCONER FICTION: You accuse Teresa of wanting to “spread the wealth” by raising tolls to use the money to pay for her train projects.

FACT: She did not want to raise tolls for rail projects or any other purpose, nor did she ever vote to raise tolls, and – in fact – proposed to lower tolls. In fact the OBJ article Matt cites, explains that very clearly. And she was also the only Commissioner to call for a full outside audit of the Expressway Authority in 2004, years before the trouble was finally exposed.

In defense of Marco Rubio, I spoke with him regarding the event, and as you can imagine the campaigning have monopolized his time.

He regretfully could not make it because for two reasons, one his Son was having a ball game, and he told his Son, he would be there before he knew of the event. I find this admirable.

Second, the logistics of changing the flights for him and his staff where insurmountable.

He really did want to be there and was sorry he was not able to make it.

I agree with Jason. We have got to stop the message sending and get active! Sending a message is passive. It's time to take back the party at a local level! Join OCREC, and work for change yourself. Don't count on the party bosses to do it because they won't. Research, pick your conservative candidate, and volunteer your time and money to get them into office. Be active BEFORE the primary! Otherwise, you message is just more talk.

Scott,...I would agree that settling for the Status Quo is definitely not the right answer, but guaranteeing a win for democrats in the general election is even worse. They're taking this country down a path that may be irreversible. My initial goal is to prevent that from happening by making sure conservatives win the primary, and the only vehicle that conservatives CAN actually WIN elections is in the Republican party. They can't WIN elections in third parties,...they can only "send messages" to the party bosses. But its too late for just sending messages,...we have GOT to stop that pendulum from swinging and sprinting to the left. We MUST get in there, participate in the party NOW, take over the party, and support conservatives to send the message to the party bosses in the primary, not the general. In my humble opinion, of course. What do you think? (I'm not arguing, just interested in have a dialogue on this to flesh out real strategies that will save this country vs. hoping other people change on their own).
